What I Wish Someone Told Me

This week's insight: Start networking before you need to network.

I used to take Athletic Greens every morning. Great product, so I got curious and reached out to about 20 people who worked there. Only one person responded.

That one person? The CFO.

This wasn't because I wanted a job. I wasn't even thinking about opportunities. I just used the product and had genuine questions about how they built it.

Everyone has something they're curious about. A sports team. A software you use daily. A market you think is getting disrupted. Whatever it is, when you find it, just reach out to people working on it.

The math is simple: worst case, they don't respond and you're exactly where you were 5 minutes ago. Best case, you get a new mentor or an opportunity you never saw
